Job Description:
Keystone Consulting Engineers, Inc., a multi-discipline civil and consulting engineering and surveying firm, is seeking a full-time Environmental Soil Scientist to join our Civil Engineering department.  This is an exciting opportunity for an entry to mid-level person to contribute to both public and private projects while utilizing their technical expertise. This position will be based out of either our Bethlehem or Pocono, PA office and requires a person who is passionate about environmental science and civil engineering.  
 
Duties/Responsibilities:
 
  • Assist in preparing design deliverables and permit application packages.
  • Contribute to report preparation, data analysist, and field investigations.
  • Conduct wetland delineations and stream surveys.
  • Perform stormwater infiltration tests.
  • Sewage Enforcement including but not limited to: dig and perform on-lot percolation tests; review and process sewage applications and issue permits, conduct inspections for on-lot sewage systems during installation; review and approve planning modules; ensure all duties are performed in accordance with the PA Sewage Facilities Act.
  • Attend client meetings.
  • Perform other duties/responsibilities as assigned.
 
Required Skills/Abilities:
 
  • Read and interpret construction drawings, plans, specifications, and contract documents.
  • Ability to work alone and collaborate with various people such as contractors, developers, property owners, consultants, and governmental agencies.

Education and Experience:
 
  • Associate or bachelor’s degree in environmental science or related field.
  • 0-5 Years experience in environmental science or related science field.
  • Sewage enforcement officer certification or ability and willingness to obtain certification.
  • Knowledge and/or experience with U.S. Army Corps of Engineers Wetland Delineation Manual (1987) and Regional Supplements.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office.
  • Must have a valid driver’s license.
  • Experience with CADD or GIS software a plus.
  • Certified Professional Soil Scientist certification or ability to obtain a Certified Professional Soil Scientist certification is preferred.
 
Physical Requirements:
 
  • Ability to work outdoors in variable conditions and terrain.
  • Ability to walk long distances, kneeling, bending, lifting, and carrying equipment and supplies.
  • Sitting at a desk for a prolonged period while working on a computer.
  • Must be able to lift up to 50 pounds at a time.
